The dawn of League Belts and Belt Holders
Where it all started
When we first came up with the idea of putting two chilli eating legends, Johnny Scoville from the USA and the UK Chilli Queen, head-to-head in the very first League of Fire™ World Title Chilli Eating Belt Match, we couldn’t have imagined the legacy it would ignite. It was July 2019, at the Guildford Cheese & Chilli Festival, and the atmosphere was electric. For the first time ever, two of the most respected figures in the chilli world were going to battle it out: live, on stage, for global bragging rights and the very first World Title Belt.
There were no roadmaps, no benchmarks, this had never been done before. We were stepping into uncharted territory, fuelled by passion and the belief that the chilli eating community deserved something bigger. Something official. Something unforgettable.
What began as a bold new concept quickly captured the imagination of chilli heads across the globe. It wasn’t just a competition, it was a celebration of heat, endurance and community. From seasoned competitors to curious onlookers, people tuned in, showed up, and joined the conversation. It brought together fans, athletes, creators, and newcomers alike, united by the spectacle, intensity and energy of that showdown.
This Ultimate Chilli Eating Showdown wasn’t just a historic clash of titans. It was the spark that set the League of Fire in motion. It inspired a new wave of competitors and fans from all corners of the world, forged unexpected friendships, and laid the foundation for what would become a truly international movement.
It wasn’t just a match. It was the moment that started it all.

LEAGUE MATCHES
Social or Corporate Events
Across the globe, from small towns to bustling cities, people have been stepping up to the plate to take on the ultimate test of heat. While every event’s competition has its own flair, most follow a familiar path. The early rounds start you off gently, with each round climbing the heat scale, building the intensity until there’s nowhere left to go but through the fire.
As long as a contest is properly officiated, involves four or more participants, and sticks more or less to the League of Fire format, the winner has earned recognition in our books. That said, it’s up to League of Fire to decide if a contest makes it into the official LOF rankings.
We believe true chilli champions deserve their moment in the spotlight. That’s why we’re celebrating those who’ve faced the fire and walked away victorious.

Regional Belt Matches
Chilli eating is global, and our titles reflect that. In 2021, we launched Regional Belts to spotlight the fiercest competitors from around the world.
To earn a shot at a Regional Belt, contenders must first prove themselves in official League of Fire contests within their region, whether at festivals, local events or sanctioned challenges.
These are not one-on-one duels, but intense multi-person showdowns with up to 10 competitors. No prior wins are required, but what follows is not for the faint-hearted. Each round features multiple superhot peppers, and if it comes down to a tie, a speed round will decide the champion.
Each belt is more than a title, it’s a mark of honour, a symbol of regional dominance, and a step on the path to World Glory.

World Title Belt Matches
Our World Title Belt Matches follow the Guildford Cognoscenti Rules and are always one-on-one duels, much like boxing. Competitors face multiple intense rounds, finishing with a knockout speed round.
Only those who’ve won at least three regular chilli contests can challenge for the World Belt, often starting where regular contests end, facing plates of superhots like Scorpions or Reapers from round one.
Rounds feature multiple superhots (4 or more) per round, unlike regular contests with just one or two. If both competitors survive 10 rounds, a tie-breaker speed round decides the champion.
The League of Fire World Title Belt is the ultimate prize, our holder is the undisputed World Champion of chilli eating.
